Finding the Motivation to do more

As a teenager going through high school during the pandemic, it had been exceptionally hard to find the motivation to do anything. Studying for tests seemed like SUCH a waste of time when I could watch Youtube instead. Why should I study to answer questions when I can google them anyways? And don’t get me started on extracurriculars. Especially for those still in an online school environment, life just seems contained to the little room you sit in all day.
So how do you find the motivation to get working? Well… as much as everyone hoped that there would just be a simple answer, there really isn’t. The answer really does differ based on who you are.
In my case, for example, it is pure competitive drive and the feeling of being left behind that will bring me back on track. Going on social media and seeing the great accomplishments of the people around me will only light a fire in me to do more.
For others, it may be simply finding a newfound love in what they already do or what they are trying out that motivates them to do more. Much like in my case with basketball, many may find an unusually large amount of interest in certain activities that push them to be the best they can be in that activity.
The key to keeping this motivation however is simply taking action. The ones who act upon their dreams and goals are at the end of the day, the only ones who even have a chance at achieving them.
Here at Verba, we are all about taking action despite all the setbacks we have either already faced or are yet to come. For all those who have a profound love for the art of debate but lack the resources in your community to be able to take action on this passion, Verba is the go-to service for everything debate-related.
